Two Days To Go…

After numerous discussions with my peers, we have all come to the conclusion that time in Europe passes at an increasingly slow rate. That is, until I looked at the calender today (May 30th, Austrian time) and realized that it was already Thursday. Meaning we have only two more days left until many of us return home.

At 20 years old, this trip has been quite an adventure. The longest and furthest I’ve gone from seeing my parents. The realization that it is okay to identify the weaknesses of my country. The courage to reflect on society, humanity, and in turn, myself. And the ability as a citizen of the world to put myself in other people’s shoes.

Oh, and the opportunity to bike in the Austrian rain around the lake this past Monday morning with Sophia G. at 7:15am. My hands were freezing, the temperature cool, but the air was the cleanest I have ever breathed in my life! Must have something to do with the lively emerald green scenery. Another “to-do” checked off my list.

This evening, my small group and I made our last preparations for our presentation the following morning. I feel so blessed to have the opportunity to work with a unique group of people who were willing to listen, respect, and make compromises to create something interesting, and what I hope to be fun for the audience!

As I treasured our one day of sunshine this week, I deeply treasure these last precious moments in Salzburg before I go off to adventure through Europe with Nichole Y. and Sophia G. This is truly a lifetime opportunity and I can’t think of a better way to learn about global citizenship other than right here in this magical place!

  1. Nice to hear that everyone is enjoying those rainy days in Salzburg. Keep up the hard work and bring your global citizenship skills home to share with the rest of us.
